KEEPER CRISIS?
Worthers not concerned…

For a long time Norn Iron have been in the comfort zone when it comes to choosing who will represent our country between the sticks.

Maik Taylor and Roy Carroll have been in the squad for some time and it was natural Worthers was going to include them in the squad for the game against Licky.

Either way, whoever Worthers chooses to start will be coming into the game with no actual match practice as neither has represented their clubs so far this season.

Nigel Worthington has claimed that he is unconcerned about his goalkeeping situation as he approaches his first game as Northern Ireland manager on Wednesday night.

Maik Taylor and Roy Carroll have been the regular two 'keepers in the squad for sometime, so it was no surprise when Worthington named them in his squad for Wednesday night's Euro 2008 qualifier against Liechtenstein at Windsor Park.

Colin Doyle has taken responsibility at Birmingham City in place of Taylor and it’s the task of Roy Carroll to push out Allan McGregor at Rangers.

"Am I concerned that my two goalkeepers haven't been in the first-team at their clubs? Not at all," said Worthington.

"Both will have had a good pre-season and will have played games during that time.

" They are both experienced and talented goalkeepers, and I have no worries about them.

"They will have known that this game was coming up and I know that they will both be ready.

Third choice historically has gone to Michael Ingham, who has just completed a move to Hereford United, but Linfield’s Allan Mannus has been given a call-up.
