Preston’s Andy Smith look set for a move to St Patrick’s Athletic having been turned down by Glentoran for unachievable wage demands.
Smicker, often seen at Toni & Guy, has not figured recently at Deepdale at is looking for a move back to the Irish League. Both Alan McDonald and Portadown’s Ronnie McFall have ruled out any possibility of a move to them. Linfield have also been approached but will not be making a move for the player.
"A message was left for me by someone stating that they represented Andy Smith," said Linfield manager David Jeffrey.
"Obviously, he's someone who was very successful in Irish League football from his time with Glentoran.
"He's had a treacherous time with injuries since his move to Preston, but at this moment in time we're more than covered in the striking department of the team. We haven't made an enquiry and we won't be following up the contact made with us with an enquiry."
It now looks likely that St Pat’s, second in the Eircom League, are likely to welcome Smicker to Dublin, which has an abundance of chick hair salons that should make it easier for Smicker to settle.
