Patrick's Day - IFA appoint new Chief Exec
Fri, May 22 2009
Macclesfield Town's Chief Executive Patrick Nelson has informed his Board that he is to be appointed Chief Executive of the IFA.
It is assumed Nelson will commence his role sometime in the summer as we await the outcome of the industrial tribunal as ex Chief Exec Howard Wells continues his fight claiming discrimination because he was an Englander.
Nelson's main responsibilities will relate to grass-roots development, but obviously he will be the face behind the IFA should we be lucky enough to qualify for South Africa 2008.
Most Northern Ireland supporters will be familiar with the role of Sammy McIlroy at Macclesfield and it certainly seems that in Nelson's time there he has managed to put the club on comparatively sound financial footing.
